Starlux Airlines End of Schedule Saver Award Space with Alaska

Introduction – Starlux Alaska Airlines Saver Award Pricing

In August, I reviewed Starlux’s A350 and A321 business class and had a fantastic journey. I booked these Starlux trips using Alaska Airlines miles. When Starlux launched award flights with Alaska Airlines, promotional pricing was offered. For example, the Los Angeles to Taipei (LAX-TPE) route could be booked in business class for only 60,000 Alaska miles.

Unfortunately, the promotional saver award space dried up quickly, with most space disappearing within 48 hours. With the promotion over, the standard award pricing on the LAX-TPE route appeared to be 165,000 Alaska miles, a substantial increase.

Recently, I’ve been monitoring Starlux business class award space with Alaska Airlines to see if anything has changed. I’ve noticed a trend that could be useful in booking Starlux business class awards at a cheaper cost.

Starlux Releasing Alaska Airlines Saver Award Space Near End of Schedule

In monitoring award costs on Starlux’s Los Angeles to Taipei route, I noticed Starlux is making cheaper business class awards available towards the end of the schedule. While more expensive than the introductory promotion pricing of 60,000 Alaska miles, I’m seeing business class awards priced at 75,000 miles from LAX to TPE (and the other direction) on the last few days of the schedule. Given I’ve seen this trend reoccur over the past week, I assume 75,000 Alaska miles will represent Starlux’s new saver award price on this route.

See below for some examples of Starlux business class award space for only 75,000 Alaska miles between Los Angeles and Taipei.

More Starlux Airlines Saver Award Space With Alaska Airlines Coming?

I’m hoping this trend will stick, and Starlux will continue to release discounted award space at the end of the schedule. Additionally, I’d like to see Starlux release some last-minute saver award space close to departure. For example, if unsold business class seats remain in the days leading up to a flight, it would be nice to see Starlux release some saver award inventory at 75,000 Alaska miles instead of keeping it at the standard price of 165,000 miles.

Starlux will also begin selling seats on its San Francisco to Taipei route soon, with flights starting in December. I’m curious if Starlux will release some saver award space on the San Francisco route at launch, given they may not sell out business class in the initial months of operation.

Update: Starlux has begun selling its San Francisco flight with end-of-schedule awards priced out at 75,000 miles. The 75,000 miles saver cost is also available a few days each month but may not last long.

Starlux Releasing More Saver Award Space with Alaska Airlines – Pilot Debrief

After having great flights with Starlux last month, I’m looking forward to my next opportunity to fly with the Taipei-based carrier. I would never spend 165,000 Alaska Airlines miles to fly in business class with Starlux, but I am happy to report that saver award space priced at 75,000 miles is being released towards the end of the schedule. I think 75,000 Alaska miles represents a strong value, and I would definitely take advantage of the discounted rate.

I will continue to monitor Starlux’s award pricing with Alaska Airlines, particularly to see if any last-minute saver award space is released and if any new award space will accompany the launch of its San Francisco flight.
