Delta 12Status Returns in 2023
Delta is bringing back its popular 12Status program for the 2023 NFL season. The 12Status program has been running for seven years now and provides free SkyMiles and other perks to Seahawks fans based in Washington. Delta indicates 961,000,000 free SkyMiles have been awarded to customers since the programs inception.
12status is symbolic of the Seahawks’ “12th man”, aka the fans that support the 11 players on the field. I happened to notice the 12Status site went live today, and I’m sure a more formal announcement will be coming from Delta shortly. Read on for the details of Delta’s 12Status program for Seahawks fans in 2023.
Delta’s 12Status Program Details for 2023
Delta’s 12Status program provides the following three perks to registered SkyMiles members:
12Status Perk 1: Free Delta SkyMiles
“One mile for every yard the Seahawks throw on the field at regular and post season home and away games during the 2023-2024 NFL Season will be awarded in your Delta SkyMiles® account.”
I’ve participated in this program in previous years and how many miles you earn is of course dependent on how well the Seahawks play. With that being said, you’ll likely earn somewhere between 3,000 – 5,000 free miles. The Seahawks will play 17 regular season games in 2023, and the average NFL teams passes for an average of 200 plus yards a game.
When booking in advance on certain US domestic routes, I’ve seen one way Delta awards be as low as 4,500 – 6,000 miles, so the earnings from this program could certainly be enough for a free one way trip.
Delta SkyMiles also never expire, so anything you earn from 12Status in 2023 can be added onto to your future SkyMiles earnings.
12Status Perk 2: Complimentary Main Cabin 1 Boarding
“12Status Members will have the ability to board their departing flights at SeaTac during Main Cabin 1 from September 10, 2023 until the end of the Seahawks 2023-24 Season.”
While limited to departures from Seattle’s SeaTac airport, this is certainly a nice perk for those without Delta elite status that would otherwise board in main cabin 2 (main cabin tickets), main cabin 3 (discounted T, X, V fare class tickets), or main cabin 4 (basic economy tickets). Boarding early gives you more time to settle in and a better chance of getting convenient overhead bin space for your bags.
12Status Perk 3: Seahawks Pro Shop Team Store Discount
“12Status Members will receive an exclusive 12% discount at Seahawks Pro Shop retail stores on the 12th of each Seahawks in-season month*. Present the 12Status Badge at checkout to receive the 12% discount.”
While not related to flying, I did want to mention that 12status members receive this 12% discount. NFL fans know that NFL gear is pricey so having an opportunity to get a 12% discount on items you might otherwise purchase is nice benefit.
Registering for Delta 12Status
To be eligible for Delta’s 12Status program in 2023, you must register (even if you registered in prior years). To register for 12Status you must “you must have a Delta SkyMiles® account that includes a Washington State address.”
Ultimately, Delta is targeting this promotion for Seahawks fans based in Washington as they fiercely compete with Alaska Airlines out of Seattle. Assuming you meet the criteria, you can register for 12status here by entering your Delta SkyMiles account number.
Tracking Free SkyMiles with 12Status
After registering, Delta provides 12Status members with a dashboard to track the miles you have earned throughout the Seahawks’ 2023 NFL season.
Delta even breaks down how many free SkyMiles you have earned by Seahawks game throughout the season. Based on my previous experience, Delta deposits your miles to your account within a few days after each game so you do not need to wait until the end of the 2023 season to receive of all of your SkyMiles.
Delta 12Status Launches for 2023 Seahawks and NFL Season – The Pilot Debrief
Delta has launched its 12status website for the 2023 NFL season and Seahawks fans based in Washington can register with their SkyMiles accounts. Delta 12Status will provide free miles for every passing yard made by the Seahawks this season, main cabin 1 boarding for those departing Seattle’s Seatac airport, and a 12% discount at Seahawks pro shops.
While limited to those living in Washington, this promotion is a great opportunity to earn enough SkyMiles for a free one way trip and enjoy priority boarding even if you do not have Delta Status. Delta uses its 12status miles to attract customers in Washington that may otherwise fly with its competition, Alaska Airlines.
